Abstract— Artificial Intelligence (AI) based voice virtual assistants are currently attracting a great deal of attention. Their emergence paves the way for new multi-modal natural interfaces that can be utilized for many purposes within smart environments, including facilitating behavior change. This work presents a multi-modal pervasive virtual coach, complementing text-based interaction via a mobile app with voice based interaction through a virtual assistant, with the ultimate goal of delivering behavior change intervention to promote physical activity among older adults within smart environments.
