Abstract: With the increasing aging population in Europe and growing demand on health care, Smart Home (SH) environment can support older people to live longer independently, enjoy comfort and quality of life in their private environments. Smart Home environment consists of heterogeneous devices which communicate with each other and also to the inhabitant. Context aware technologies plays a major role into it and focuses on human activity recognition and location awareness which is very important in health care system to recognize daily living activities of the patient and in monitoring their behavior. Therefore, motivation of the project is to perform ontology based activity recognition and to make smart home platform more intelligent and adaptive to the user requirements.
